Visual Arts
At Cardinal Stritch, the Art Program plays a vital role in nurturing creativity, self-expression, and spiritual reflection. Rooted in Catholic values, our program encourages students to explore their God-given talents through the visual arts while learning to appreciate beauty as a reflection of the divine.
Students engage with a wide range of artistic media—including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media—while studying elements of design, art history, and the work of master artists. Integrated into the curriculum are themes of faith, service, and cultural appreciation, allowing students to make connections between art, their Catholic identity, and the wider world.
Art instruction emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and craftsmanship. Students are also given opportunities to display their work throughout the school and at local art exhibits and parish events, fostering pride in their achievements and a deeper sense of community.
Ultimately, our Art Program seeks to inspire students to see art not only as a form of personal expression, but as a way to glorify God and bring beauty into the world.
Our Art in the Community class is a service learning course where students focus on a project for the first semester for another organization which has included Nature’s Nursery, Toledo MetroParks, and The Gardens of St. Francis. In the second semester students focus on a Cardinal Stritch campus beautification project creating murals around the school and or helping with set design for the musical.
